In the Northwest we are committed to helping established congregations grow and become healthy.  Each association cooperates with NAB International to utilize resources and tools that will help churches evaluate and strengthen their ministry.

We will provide Coaching to any NABNW pastors, staffs or ministry team leaders who express a desire, pending availability of a certified coach.   NABNW has four trained coacher serving the region and has an additional six coaches who will complete training in April 2009.  NABNW uses the CoachNet (www.coachnet.org) online coaching tool.   Those who are coached currently are required to purchase a CoachNet online subscription through NAB for $60 annually.  Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Here is what Kim Christensen shared about her coaching experience:

"Coaching is a relationship, which focuses on the future, empowering a person to be all that God created them to be. Over the past ten months, I have had the privilege to be in a coaching relationship with a CoachNet certified coach. My coach helped me to be more effective in my ministry, held me accountable to the important, rather than the urgent, areas of my life and walked with me as I explored new opportunities. I would recommend coaching for anyone who wants to be a more effective servant of Christ."

SonLife Classic resources has been a strategic part of helping congregations become healthy in making disciples and reaching people for Christ.  We offer seminars featuring the SonLife strategy upon request. www.sonlifeclassic.com

Natural Church Development is a tool for evaluating church health.  NCD features 8 characteristics of a healthy church.  Local churches are encourage to survey their congregation using the NCD tool.  The results are then scored and returned to the church with a consultation and opportunity to map out specific strategies to increase health and strength in that local church. www.ncd-international.org

Here is what Jim Erb, pastor of Hollyview Baptist shared about their experience:

"Last year we invited Rick Weber and the church health team to come to Hollyview   and help assess our ministry and make recommendations for vision and health.  Rick Weber, Marcus Elmer and Gerald Scheel came and conducted a church health weekend with Hollyview.

They were able to be more objective regarding our church and our ministries and they made several recommendations for improvement for our church to consider.  Our church accepted the recommendations and began to work on them.

We improved our methods for greeting and following up on visitors.
We added members to our worship team and began a process of evaluation of our worship services.
We worked on developing a clear mission statement and motto.
We are presently working on some actions plans to implement our mission and core values.

In the process of putting energy into these recommendations, God began to send new people who have become part of Hollyview.  We believe we are on the right track in becoming the church God wants us to be."

Ministry Placement Network is a resource provided in concert with North American Baptist Conference to match pastors and church ministries. www.gompn.com/mpnnew

Revitalization services are provided to churches that are declining and ready to refashion their ministry.  Often these services are used in a situation where a church is facing significant decline.  Consultation and leadership is provided to help the church refocus and retool for ministry in their context to reach today's culture.  Consultations can be set up through the NW Regional Minister.

Good $ense Seminars are being offered by our Stewardship Teams and NAB Foundation.  We hope to have trainers in every church to be able to offer this valuable ministry to their congregants.  Good $ense can help relieve the crushing stress and anxiety caused by consumer debt, restore marriages torn by conflict over money, heal wounded self-esteem and shattered confidence resulting from poor financial decisions, and remove stumbling blocks to spiritual growth.  Good $ense will help the people in your church discover tools and develop skills that enable them to control their finances rather than allowing their finances to control them. The association has purchased the Good $ense Facilitators Kit ($349.00 value) to be used by any association church doing a seminar.  To reserve the kit please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Northwest Passage Leadership Movement is one way we believe a significant impact can be made in the local church.

Hundreds of individuals have participated in some aspect of Northwest Passage, either in the Emerging Phase of servant-leadership development, the Equipping Phase of ministry development or by attending our APEST Seminar. As a result participants developed lasting new relationships, discerned how God had uniquely created them in Christ, and discovered the impact mentoring can have on the formation of our heart.
