Report/2008 in review: This last year for Hispanics for Christ has been very exciting with new achievements, hopeful with new opportunities and difficult with new challenges. The one constant has been the Hispanic diaspora continues and the mission field is ripe for harvest!
Bob Goetz has taken over as new board chairman and has brought solid leadership to HFC. One of the most obvious new achievements of his leadership is our newsletter now going out on a monthly basis. If you would like to receive this contact us at the address below. Another achievement is the transition of our consulting relationship with Sunkist Community Church in Anaheim to their being a supporting church with the successful launch of their Hispanic congregation. In Chicago we have begun consulting with Eastside Baptist Church as they launch a new Hispanic church to reach the exploding Hispanic community of Chicago.
We are hopeful for the future as we see some tremendous opportunities for ministry. There is a growing call from Guatemala to assist in planting new churches in Guatemala City. In Mexico we have a growing network of pastors that are all actively planting new churches and asking for coaching. They are ready to form a new association for this purpose and HFC can help them do this with the potential of hundreds of new churches in this country. The Great Plains Region has asked for help in identifying and relocating a leader to assist with Hispanic church planting in Texas. In the Northwest we have more locations for new Hispanic congregations than we have leaders!
We also are faced with new challenges. We are challenged to find qualified leaders for leading new Hispanic congregations. We are challenged to allocate our limited staff resources in response to the new opportunities, and the greatest challenge we face is to develop a stable financial base so that we are able to support the ministry. We have survived due to the support of the Association and a few generous churches and we need to broaden that base to include more churches and individuals supporting us on a monthly basis so we can continue and even expand planting Hispanic churches and training their leaders.
